It’s that time of year…..are you ready for Festive Fridays?! There’s nothing like a good cocktail to help you slip into your weekend (or workweek, honestly) during the holiday season, so allow us to help you along. If you aren’t familiar with the Festive Fridays series, it’s a weekly post during the month of December (on Fridays, obvi) where we share the recipe for a delicious cocktail. Some weeks we’ll create something new and others we’ll put a twist on a classic.
For our first festive cocktail of 2019, we created a gingersnap martini. It’s spicy and sweet and a perfect way to transition from fall to winter, from Thanksgiving to Christmas. We tested multiple variations of this recipe and finally found one we love best. It’s been an after dinner cocktail, enjoyed by candle light and shared with family. It’s a winner every time.
So whip up a batch of this delicious holiday-in-a-glass and enjoy it while you trim the tree, write out Christmas cards, clean the house or seduce your significant other under the Christmas tree (you know you want to).
Ingredients (makes 1 drink)
- 2.5 ounces dark rum (we used Cruzan Estate Diamond Black Strap Rum)
- 2 ounces ginger liqueur (we used Domaine De Canton)
- 1/2 teaspoon maple liqueur (we used Sapling)
- Sprinkle of cinnamon spice
- Sprinkle of ginger spice
Directions
- Add ice and all of the ingredients above to a cocktail shaker
- Shake (remember….shake the shit out of it, shake the ever-living-shit out of it then kill it….wimpy shake=bad cocktail, strong shake=divine)
- Serve in a martini glass or on ice in a rocks glass
- Garnish with a gingersnap cookie if you have them!
- Toast to life, good fortune, joy and all the good things in life
Don’t forget to check out our 2018 Festive Friday posts….these cocktails deserve a place in your drink rotation:
- Coquito, our take on the classic.
- Naughty Elf, a creme de menthe brownie in drink form (heaven!).
- Peppermint Mojito, in the summer we’re obsessed with the classic mojito and needed a way to make it feel “right” during the Christmas season.
- Murder & Mayhem, this was my favorite creation from last year’s series. I edit it now and then to tone down the sweetness.
Here’s to an enchanting weekend and a romantic holiday season!
XOXO
