Interior Décor Inspiration for the Wild at Heart

By now, you probably know that I’m obsessed with tropical, mid-century, boho, colorful décor. I guess you’d call my style a combination of eclectic and British Colonial, but I don’t love labels when it comes to décor, it feels limiting. And we should never feel limited when we’re designing our own space.

When I’m decorating, I think about the things I love and rarely about the latest trend or color of the year. I think about the vibe I want to create and let that guide all of my choices. That’s what I encourage you to do too because, in the end, the only thing that actually matters is that YOU love it. When somebody decorates with their heart and personality, you can tell- a white room becomes cozy instead of sterile, a dark room is luxurious instead of oppressive. So throw away the rule book and listen to your wild heart. What you create will be magic.

Here’s a taste of things from around the web that inspire me and make my heart flutter. Maybe you’ll find some things you love too.

Do you know what I would do for a room like this? I mean, those windows, the plants, the garden chairs. I’ve always imagined having a conservatory attached to my house, they seem so magical and enchanting (does that give you some insight into the Enchanted Conservatory name? 😉 ). I think the first conservatory I saw was in the movie Clue and I’ve been smitten ever since.

Green Tile
@lejardinmarrakech

Ok, technically this is outside, but that tile is so delicious. I would love to see a bathroom tiled with these beauties, a fireplace surround (I mean, I can already see live garland and white Christmas stockings) or a sitting room of some sort. Honestly, I’d take this tile anywhere.

I LOVE the fabric on these chairs. That green velvet! Classic but fun, moody but fresh. Paired with that floral pattern it’s perfect for summer, paired with other jewel tones, it’s perfect for winter.

Tables

Isn’t it nice to see tables that are interesting instead of boring? Doesn’t it feel like EVERY store has the boring, typical side tables? I want interesting pieces that aren’t necessarily the center of attention but add depth and personality to a room.

Garden chairs

These garden chairs don’t look very comfortable but I love how charming they are! I’d probably use them outside or as a chair for a vanity. They add that vintage, mid-century garden party vibe that I love.

Bar

I like a few things here. First, that detail around the top of the wall, I can’t tell if it’s a cutout or paint but it’s a fun detail that adds interest. I also love the cutouts above the doors, what a fun way to make those entryways feel more grand. Lastly, those chairs. They remind me of a a 1970s Miami home and I dig that.

Kitchen

Did I ever tell you that I love Flamingos? They also remind me of some kitschy Miami home. I guess I have a thing for that look as well? I think this wallpaper is lively and those chairs perfectly tie the whole room together. You can tell they had fun decorating this kitchen, I’d love to have breakfast here.

Bathroom

Wouldn’t a shower here be so luxurious? That wall tile is to die for, the gold hardware is rich and, while I may not have picked that floor tile, it delivers a perfect contrast.

Green Stair Rug

What a fun, bright entry! I LOVE this green runner, it’s so bright and happy.

I have been and always will be a sucker for a good animal print. I especially like this antelope print runner. By now we’re all used to leopard and zebra, but antelope isn’t a pattern we see everyday and it’s easily used as a neutral while adding visual interest.

Wood doors

I mean, those doors! I hope to one day have a space that demands this type of gorgeous entry.

Speaking of entryways, don’t you wish grand designs like this were still around? This reminds me of a 1950s movie.

Purple couch

Magenta. Velvet. Couch. I see cozy nights snuggled on this sofa, chic cocktail parties, New Year’s Eve celebrations and Halloween haunts. All the colors make me happy. So many people are afraid of color or don’t know how to coordinate them. This is a perfect example of how almost any color can compliment another, if it’s the right tone and intensity.
