Enchanted Spaces: Moody, Nature Inspired Vision Board

When I’m in a space, I like to imagine how I might redecorate it and when I’m in somebody’s home I consider if their décor reflects their personality. It’s like a fun little puzzle for my mind. Are you the same? Do you imagine how you’d rearrange furniture or brighten a room? Do you envision how you’d design a room for your hippie sister or nature loving friend? Does it bother you when you feel like somebody’s décor doesn’t reflect how awesome they are? If so, you’re my people!

Enchanted Spaces

Because I have this particular quirk, I’ve started a new branch of Enchanted Conservatory called Enchanted Spaces, where I get to know the things people love (favorite smells, places, vacations…) and translate that into a vision board for a room in their home. So I got thinking about my family and how I would translate their personalities, passions, pursuits etc. into a room design. I decided to start with my husband. I went through my intake process with him (found out zero new things 😉 ) and created a vision board. Here it is in all its moody, nature inspired glory.

How I Got There

Here are the things Chris loves and what I used to help decide the décor of this room:

  • His perfect vacation would be in nature but near a city, he enjoys the peacefulness of nature and the energy and history of the city so he’d like to enjoy both.
  • When he was little he wanted to be an inventor and that still resonates with him today.
  • Fall is his favorite season.
  • He loves the smell of a bonfire.
  • He would love to live in the woods.
  • His favorite colors are black, white and silver.

My first version had gold hardware (lamp, pendants, coffee table) with an ivory rug and he didn’t love that. I have to admit, that first design had a little of me thrown in there (oops!). So I went back and put together what I would imagine for him if I wasn’t a factor. This iteration won him over…..now he’s asking if we can use it as inspiration for our office. I told him only if we use the gold hardware. 😉

Would you like a room decorated this way? Tell me in the comments!
