When asked, it never occurs to me to name orange as my favorite color. But man, there’s just something about it that’s irresistible…the energy of red with the happiness of yellow. And, as I searched for orange décor, in all its many shades, I fell more in love with it. From the soft peaches and pinky corals to the burnt oranges, each one lured me in more and more.
This past spring I painted my kitchen and hallways a pretty light peach, and it transformed the way I feel about those spaces. I originally painted those walls yellow, which I thought would be a happy, sunshiny color but it ended up feeling dingy. And, from my family room, I can see through the kitchen to my dining room and I HATED seeing those yellow walls. When I took pictures the walls looked dull and grimy, even though they weren’t. So, I tried peach and it was 100% the right answer. It’s a soft, warm color– it’s like pink lighting that makes everyone look beautiful. Except it’s peach and not a light…..you get me?
Benefits of Orange
I often wonder why I’m drawn to certain colors and after learning about the benefits of orange, I knew in my knower why peach was the color I chose to wrap myself in.
Did you know that orange increases creativity? In the past 4 years or so, my soul has been crying out for more creativity (hence starting this blog and my Etsy shop). I felt constrained by my job and the path I was on and felt like I had lost any creativity I had as a child. When I read that orange increases creativity it felt like my soul already knew that. It also combats stagnation (uh-hem, that stuck feeling I mentioned above). I’m not sure if my peach walls are fueling my creativity but I like to know I’m supporting my wellbeing through every avenue possible.
Take a look at this list of benefits below…..maybe you need more orange in your life too.
