Autumn Intentions

Autumn has perfected the art of letting go and for some reason that inspires me.  It feels like the perfect time to start fresh, make promises to myself and perhaps challenge myself.

I think too much of life is spent waiting.  Waiting to grow up, graduate, get married, have children.  Waiting for success, happiness, love.  Waiting for the weekend.  I often wonder how we get stuck in that pattern and how we can get out of it.  Then I’ll read an inspiring quote or book and I’ll feel a rush of understanding and excitement.  As if there is this potential to be great that’s bursting to get out.  But that feeling can flee as quickly as it came.

I’ve probably read a thousand quotes about greatness and success living and breeding in habit.  It’s what you do consistently that decides your future, we can’t simply wait for good things to happen.  I believe that.  Do you?

So, here are the intentions I am setting for myself this season:

  • Be bold, pursue your dream
  • Do one thing a month that’s a challenge (post about it, don’t be afraid!)
  • Nurture your creativity- Remember the wise words of Dr. Seuss:  “You have to be odd to be number one”
  • Be as loyal to yourself as you are to others
  • Be purposeful about making memories- Sweet, crazy, hilarious, peaceful, amazing memories
  • Think of why it will work instead of all the reasons it won’t
  • Take care of yourself- Walk, take baths, laugh, love, eat nurturing food, hug people you love
  • Go out of your way to cheer on others and lend a helping hand when you can

Let’s hope some of these things turn into habits!
