Colorful Artwork for Your Walls

I love walking through museums. The quiet anticipation of what treasures lie around the corner. The grandeur of the halls. The contrast of different types of art. And I’ve always felt like I should dress sharply when attending a museum, as if I need to show respect for all that beauty and history. Give me a drink or cup of tea in a museum courtyard and I feel downright fancy. I find them to be romantic and I’ve always thought of it as a perfect date spot. Museums and book stores. An interesting way to learn about somebody you’re just starting to date or a sexy way to spend time with somebody you’ve been with for ages.

But, while I appreciate all types of art and the talent it takes to create it, I’m very particular about the type of art I want in my house. I don’t love portraits or anything too colonial or traditional. Paintings of quaint country sides or a dark still life of fruit will never be what I pick for my home. (I always leave room for growth and change of mood, so when I say “never” I mean, at the moment. 😉 ) I like my artwork as I like my books and movies- fun, happy, a bit quirky and definitely colorful. Nothing too serious.

So, I’ve pulled together art I’m loving right now. Things I’d love to see in my home or that I’m imagining in my clients’ spaces. These can all be found on Etsy or Society6 and a few are instant downloads, which I love. I can picture some of these as part of a gallery wall, some lining a crisp white hallway with billowing drapes, some in a pool house and others in a sitting room. Isn’t it fun to imagine how you’d use art to bring life and character into a space?
