Is it just me or is there extra Christmas cheer this year, despite the current issues we’re all facing? People are decorating earlier than normal and, to my joyful surprise, radio stations are already playing Christmas music. I’m definitely here for it. I adore seeing the beautiful Christmas décor as I scroll through my feed, I’ll listen to Christmas music in October and I’ve been watching Christmas movies since November 1st. (Anyone else?) Don’t Christmas movies have a calming, cozy quality? They can be SO bad and for some reason I will watch them every.single.year.
The only thing I won’t do before Thanksgiving is decorate. As far as I’m concerned, Thanksgiving ushers in the official Christmas season. As soon as Santa makes his appearance in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade it’s go time. I usually throw Miracle on 34th Street on immediately following the parade, it’s my favorite Christmas movie and seems appropriate since the move starts with the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.
As I’m watching Christmas movies or listening to Christmas music, I like to imagine all of the other people doing that same thing at the same time. Dancing in their kitchen with their spouse, cuddling in front of a fire or singing as they do chores around the house. It makes me feel connected and I can almost feel the happy energy of the holidays. There’s really no other time of year where I feel a collective joyful spirit, it always makes me happy and gives me hope. The magic of Christmas at work.
I’ve shared our Enchanted Christmas Playlist on our Instagram feed in previous years and am sharing it here as well. I hope you’ll think of me while you listen to it.
XOXO
