I just realized that I never added a blog post about my Enchanted Conservatory cocktail! How could I have left you hanging like that?
It took me awhile to get this cocktail right. I tried and discarded many herbs and floral combinations. The goal was to create something that made you feel like you were walking through a garden. Or as if you were actually tasting spring or summer. This drink is it. It’s light and refreshing and the orange blossom water gives it an interesting twist. It’s the perfect cocktail for a spring brunch or hot summer day by the pool.
Here’s how to make it.
The Enchanted Conservatory
Ingredients (Makes 1 serving)
- 1/8 of a lemon
- 4-5 lemon balm leaves*
- 5-6 lemon verbena leaves*
- 1 ounce simple syrup
- 7 drops orange blossom water
- 1/2 ounce vodka
- Ice (to fill glass)
- Lemon-lime soda water (to top it off)
*You can use less lemon balm and lemon verbena if you have an established plant with large leaves. When I created this recipe my plants were babies.
Directions
- Add lemon, lemon balm and lemon verbena to your glass
- Muddle
- Add simple syrup, orange blossom water and vodka
- Fill glass with ice
- Top with soda water
- Stir gently to combine
As you drink this cocktail I hope that you take a deep breath and feel free, even if it’s just for a moment. I hope that as you taste the herbs and orange blossom that you imagine yourself in the garden of your dreams and feel at peace. I hope that you feel inspired, loved, beautiful and sexy. Is that too much to ask from a cocktail? Perhaps. But I’m sending these wishes out to you anyway, because you deserve all of those things and more.
Cheers!
